Couples provide an excellent space to focus on the here and now. Couples therapy can facilitate each partner in having a more positive experience in being understood by the other and can build greater conflict resolution skills. It is a space where shared meaning can be created. It can enhance self-awareness, facilitate dialogues, integrate past and present, promote healthy communication, all in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Working with both partners allows me to gain a more balanced view of the situation providing greater insight and direction than individual work can offer. Therapy can provide a forum for each person to gain understanding of their contribution to the problem and ways to enhance the relationship or, in some cases, move towards a separation.
I am trained in Relationship and Couples Therapy and have worked successfully with couples. My approach is an eclectic mix of Gottman's method, Experiential, Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT), Systemic Therapy and Discernment Model, all tailored to fit my clients' needs.
